Adam Chandler
January 15 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Magic City Books is proud to welcome journalist Adam Chandler for an event celebrating his new book, 99% Perspiration: A New Working History of the American Way of Life on Wednesday January 15 at 6:00 pm. This free event will be hosted at the newly opened Gradient building (12 N. Cheyenne, five blocks west of Magic City Books), Tulsa’s Hub for Innovation.
99% Perspiration unpacks the misguided obsession with hard work that has come to define both the American dream and nightmare, offering insight into how we got here and hope for where we may go.
Adam Chandler is a former staff writer at The Atlantic and his work has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Esquire, TIME and many others. Chandler is the author of Drive-Thru Dreams: A Journey Through the Heart of America’s Fast-Food Kingdom and a recurring guest on The History Channel’s The Food That Built America.
Chandler will be joined in conversation by Luke Leifeste, a former senior editor at GQ and Architectural Digest whose writing has appeared in New York Magazine and elsewhere. Luke also hosts the Best of Tulsa interviews from Experience Tulsa.
99% Perspiration will be published by Pantheon Books on January 7, 2025. It will be for sale at Magic City Books starting January 7 and will be for sale at the event on January 15. If you would like to pre-order a copy or if you are unable to attend the event, you can order a copy online at: https://magiccitybooks.square.site/product/99-perspiration/3072.
