Magic City Books is proud to welcome local author Charity Barton for an in-store event to celebrate her new activity book, We Did THAT! A Black History Children’s Activity Book on Saturday June 22 at 2:00 pm.
Charity Barton is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and the University of Tulsa and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Her book invites readers on an immersive journey into the triumphs of Black people, presented in a vibrant and engaging format.

About We Did THAT!
In We Did THAT!, readers embark on an immersive journey into the triumphs of Black people, presented in a vibrant and engaging format. Through puzzle pages, coloring activities, stories with comprehension questions, and competitive challenges, readers of all ages are invited to explore pivotal moments in Black history while actively participating in the stories.
The gamification elements of the We Did THAT! serve to reinforce the historical stories, seamlessly integrating them into interactive activities that capture the reader’s attention and imagination. Additionally, We Did THAT! offers continual learning activities encouraging readers to have conversations about history, empowerment, love, identity, and pride.
From 3rd grade to 12th grade students, college undergraduates, graduate students, parents, solo travelers, history enthusiasts, to educators, We Did THAT! offers something for everyone eager to dive into Black history in an exciting and educational manner. Whether completing activities with little ones or embarking on a personal journey of discovery, readers are encouraged to share their experiences and moments of reflection prompted by the book’s activities.
Charity Barton, M.S., hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and was raised in Tulsa, OK, home to Black Wall Street. She attended THE Booker T. Washington High School and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, reflecting her deep connection to celebrating Black culture. With three degrees in communications, Charity is a passionate advocate for diverse narratives, with interests spanning travel, self-care, Black history, media literacy, public speaking, and dreaming big. As the host of the podcast “Only in Your Dreams,” Charity explores the intersection of journalism, media literacy, and storytelling. Her compelling TEDx Talk on media literacy underscores her expertise in public speaking. She firmly believes that while stories matter and well-represented stories matter more, it is the stories you tell yourself that matter most.
