Independent Bookstore Day

Magic City Books is happy to announce our participation in the 11th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day!

Magic City Books will have exclusive books and literary items as well as a few surprises. It’s a party you don’t want to miss!

At 11:00 am Tulsa native Maya Wei-Haas will be here for a meet the author event celebrating her new book, What a Rock Can Reveal, a stunningly illustrated, informative introduction to the wonders of rocks and minerals and what they can tell us about our planet-perfect for readers aged 6-9.

At 1:00 pm we will welcome Karyn Parsons for an in person program to discuss Karyn’s novels for young readers, How High the Moon and Clouds Over California. Karyn’s picture books Flying Free: How Bessie Coleman’s Dreams Took Flight, and Saving the Day: Garrett Morgan’s Life-Changing Invention of the Traffic Signal will also be available for purchase while supplies last.

At 3:00 pm we will be joined by local authors Will and Julia Thomas, who will meet readers and sign copies of their newest novels. Will’s 16th book in his beloved Barker & Llewelyn series, Death and Glory, was just published on Tuesday, April 23, while Julia’s most recent novel, The Radcliffe Ladies’ Reading Club, was published last summer.

Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the Independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 900 stores participating across the country.

Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
