A unique collection, Hybrid Creatures is composed of four stories that are each narrated partly in an artificial language: HTML, music dynamics, math notations, and formal logic.

Lee Conell’s linguistically deft stories in “Subcortical” examine the permeability between the real and the imagined, the stories buried beneath the surface and the stories by which we live our lives.
