Magic City Books is proud to welcome authors Rick Holmes and Andrea Avey for the book launch event celebrating their new book, Relate, Then Educate on Monday August 14. This free event will take place at 7:00 pm in the Algonquin Room at Magic City Books, 221 E. Archer Street in downtown Tulsa.

A life raft every teacher needs to persevere in the sink-or-swim world of education, Relate, Then Educate is an unbiased collective of experience, candid and approachable, written to challenge, encourage, correct, and console teachers-and humans–who need direction and inspiration.

About the Authors

Andrea Avey is a former educator who landed in the classroom by way of Teach for America. She studied English and Spanish at Oklahoma State University and recently earned her master’s degree from the University of Chicago. Andrea lives in Chicago with her husband and their dog, Fitzgerald.

Rick Holmes is a former secondary school teacher and coach who now runs his own marketing firm. With over two decades of classroom experience, Rick uses his perspective and experience to amplify the experiences of the classroom teacher through the Relate, Then Educate organization. He has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree in school counseling from Lamar University, and is the son of two lifetime educators who proudly served their community for over 80 years combined. He lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his family.
