Sally Dennison and Michael Wallis

June 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Magic City Books, the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum and the Osage Forest of Peace are proud to present a special Saturday afternoon event with Sally Dennison and Michael Wallis in conversation with Jeff Martin about her book One + Heart, the surprising stories behind the Osage Monastery Forest of Peace, literary book publishing in Tulsa, and Council Oak Books.

What does the Dalai Lama have to do with Tulsa?  Did you know Tulsa has an official ASHRAM in a mystical forest where anyone can visit and take a beautiful hike, or even join a meditation?

When the Forest of Peace opened in 1980 its goal was, and remains, to “bring a communion of East and West into all hearts.” One + Heart tells the story of this sacred place, the Osage Forest of Peace, which still welcomes seekers from around the world.

Copies of One + Heart will be for sale at the event in both hardcover and paperback formats.

About One + Heart: The Story of the Osage Monastery Forest of Peace

Enter the Osage Forest of Peace…

The Divine Mother came to Fr. Bede Griffiths here where he found renewal in visions in his little cabin under the trees.

Tibetan monks and nuns from the Dalai Lama’s Dharamsala in India lived here for a while in community with American Benedictine Sisters and their Osage and Oklahoma neighbors.

This is the story of how Sr. Pascaline Coff, BSPA, and her Sisters were inspired by Fr. Bede and the Second Vatican Council to build this centering place in the cross-timbered forests of Osage County, Oklahoma. Visiting here from around the world, luminaries of the Interspiritual Movement sat at table together with the Sisters and friends, then helped wash the dishes afterward. They were part of the unitive consciousness that is emerging to awaken humankind.

There is something here at The Forest of Peace still that draws people of every faith (and of none) to find spiritual renewal. If your inner being hungers to deepen, there is sustenance here. Come to the Forest through these pages and read its story. Settle for a while in the famous chapel and sit where mystics have sat, in this beloved circle, sunken into the ancient Forest floor.
