Virtual Event – Barry Friedman

March 29, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Magic City Books is proud to welcome our friend Barry Friedman for a virtual event in celebration of his new book, The Joke Was On Me.

“You can’t go on the road with standup comedian Barry Friedman, which is probably good for your health and sanity. But you can feel what it felt like, through this funny, gritty, wondrously detailed, and scarily honest book.”

Dave Barry

Barry will be joined in conversation by Jennifer Taub, author of Big Dirty Money. Watch Jennifer and Barry discuss Big Dirty Money here: https://youtu.be/EP-0kQ6TX1o.

This free event will be hosted on the Zoom platform and Facebook Live. To register in advance for the event visit: https://magiccitybooks.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_zDypcb0OQHuo61lwIjUVtw.

After you register you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to join the event on Monday, March 29 at 7:00 pm CT.

The Joke Was On Me is available at Magic City Books and online here: https://magiccitybooks.square.site/product/the-joke-was-on-me/466.

About The Joke Was On Me

Barry Friedman, a veteran of 30 years on the comedy road, delivers another punchline on standup. Filled with garden-variety kleptomaniacs, large, rum-drinking Bahamians, bitter, glorious, troubled, and sex-addicted women with ankle monitors, loquacious drug addicts, first-time Vegas lesbians, and tall, neurotic Jews in sweaters- and these are the sane people-The Joke Was On Me is the story, his story, of laughs and love and almost fame. It’s all true-as much as comedy will allow anyway.

Barry is also the author of Funny You Should Mention It, and Four Days And A Year Later. He is an essayist, a political commentator, and a reporter for a petroleum geology magazine, even though he knows precious little about the industry and has hurt himself pumping his own gas. A native New Yorker, he started his comedy career in Tulsa because while Manhattan had more career opportunities, Oklahoma had more parking. He can be found at barrysfriedman.com and barrysfriedman.substack.com.
